Shower Leak That Kept Coming Back — Fleming Island
A homeowner in Fleming Island had re-caulked their shower edge three times. The water stain on the outside wall kept returning. We opened the wall and found the waterproofing membrane behind the tile had failed, so water was seeping through the substrate every time the shower ran.
Fix
We removed the affected tile, installed new waterproofing board sealed at every seam, and re-tiled with new white subway tile and a hexagon mosaic floor. The leak was sealed at the source, not just at the surface.
Result
The stain hasn't reappeared in over a year. What looked like a caulking problem was a waterproofing failure. Patching over it would have meant mold and structural damage down the road.
Front Door That Wouldn't Latch — Middleburg
